Privacy policy
Blue Infinity is built around a simple privacy posture: your dive logs stay on your device, telemetry is off by default, and we collect as little as possible. This policy explains what we collect, when, and why — both in the iOS and watchOS app and on this website.
What stays on your device
The app records your dives locally on your Apple Watch and iPhone, and writes them into Apple Health using the permissions you have granted. We never see your dive content.
- Dive logs: Depth, duration, heart rate, and water temperature are recorded locally and stored in Apple Health on your device. They are not uploaded to us.
- Location: We do not collect or transmit GPS coordinates or any location data. If you choose to add a location to a dive, it is stored locally only.
- Account information: Blue Infinity has no user accounts. We never ask for your name, email address, or other personal details.
What the app collects, only if you opt in
Telemetry is turned off by default. You will be asked once during onboarding whether to turn it on, and you can change this at any time in Settings. When telemetry is off, no events are sent and the analytics SDKs are not initialized.
- Crash and hang reports: If the app crashes or hangs, an anonymous report containing the stack trace, app version, OS version, and device model is sent to Sentry to help us reproduce and fix the issue. Personally identifying fields such as IP address are explicitly disabled.
- Anonymous usage events: Which screens you opened, whether you completed onboarding, and whether you started demo mode. We also record errors caught by the app — for example, a HealthKit write failure — with a short error context. These are sent to TelemetryDeck.
- Anonymous installation identifier: Both Sentry and TelemetryDeck generate a per-install identifier so they can group events from the same app install. These identifiers are not linked to your identity, are not used for tracking across apps, and are reset if you reinstall the app.
What this website collects
This website (blueinfinity.app) uses Plausible Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. Plausible is a cookieless, privacy-focused analytics service: it does not set cookies, does not track you across websites, and does not use your data for advertising. Aggregated visit data is stored on Plausible's EU servers. No data flows from the iOS or watchOS app to Plausible.
Third-party services we use
These are the only third parties that receive any data from Blue Infinity:
- Sentry (app): Crash and hang reporting. Receives anonymous diagnostic data only when telemetry is enabled. See sentry.io/privacy.
- TelemetryDeck (app): Anonymous product analytics. Receives anonymous usage events only when telemetry is enabled. See telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
- Plausible (website): Anonymous, cookieless visitor analytics for blueinfinity.app. Does not receive any data from the app. See plausible.io/data-policy.
How long data is kept
Raw telemetry events are retained for up to 90 days. Aggregate metrics such as counts and percentiles may be kept longer where the third-party service supports it, but never linked to a specific person. You can turn telemetry off at any time in the app's Settings — past events that have already been sent cannot be individually withdrawn, but no further events will be sent.
Your controls
- Telemetry toggle: In the app: Settings → Telemetry. Turn the in-app analytics on or off at any time.
- Apple Health permissions: iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Blue Infinity. Revoke read or write access at any time.
- Website analytics: Plausible does not set cookies or persistent identifiers, so there is nothing to opt out of on the website itself. Browser-level privacy tools work if you wish to block it.
Children's privacy
Blue Infinity is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and the App Store privacy label before the change ships. The date at the bottom of this page reflects the last update.
